Report: Stallworth to plead guilty to DUI manslaughter charge

Football Betting Lines

06/15/2009 - Berea, OH (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte' Stallworth will reportedly plead guilty Tuesday to a DUI manslaughter charge.

Stallworth entered a plea of not guilty on June 4 and was facing a sentence of 4-to-15 years in prison if convicted. The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports the guilty plea likely means Stallworth will spend some time in jail.

The 28-year-old Stallworth was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol when his Bentley struck and killed a pedestrian in Miami Beach on March 14. He was led away in handcuffs after a brief hearing and was released later on $200,000 bail.

According to the affidavit, Stallworth's blood alcohol level was .126 -- above Florida's legal limit of .08 -- at the time of the accident.

Stallworth, according to reports from the Miami Herald, drove his Bentley around a stopped vehicle to beat a red light and struck 59-year old Mario Reyes, who was walking to a bus stop from work as an overnight crane operator.

Stallworth joined the Browns for the 2008 season as a free agent and caught a career-low 17 passes for 170 yards with a touchdown in just 11 games. He was hampered by a quadriceps injury for much of the season.
